Getting Started with LexBuddy

Welcome to LexBuddy — your AI-powered legal assistant. This guide will walk you through everything you need to get up and running in minutes.

What You Can Do with LexBuddy

  • Draft documents — Generate contracts, agreements, and legal memos with AI assistance.
  • Review & summarize — Upload PDFs or Word files and get instant plain-language summaries.
  • Ask legal questions — Chat with the AI about case details, statutes, or legal procedures.
  • Manage matters — Organize clients, files, and conversations in one place.
  • Search legal authority — Find relevant case law and statutes automatically.

Step 1: Create Your Account

  1. Go to the LexBuddy login page and click Sign Up.
  2. Enter your name, work email, and a strong password.
  3. Check your inbox for a verification email and click the confirmation link.
  4. You're in — your workspace is ready.
First-time login

If your organization already has a LexBuddy workspace, ask your admin to send you an invitation link instead of signing up independently.


Step 2: Set Up Your Profile

Once logged in, navigate to Settings → Account → Profile to:

  • Upload a profile photo
  • Set your preferred language and timezone
  • Configure notification preferences

Step 3: Start a Conversation

The quickest way to experience LexBuddy is to start a conversation:

  1. Click Conversations in the left sidebar.
  2. Click New Conversation.
  3. Type a question or paste a legal text and press Enter.
Example prompt:
"Summarize the key obligations of a contractor under a standard construction agreement."

The AI will respond with a structured, plain-language answer.


Step 4: Create a Matter

A Matter is how LexBuddy organizes a legal case or project:

  1. Go to Matters → New Matter.
  2. Fill in the matter name, client, and type (e.g., Contract, Litigation, Advisory).
  3. Upload any relevant documents under the Files tab.
  4. Start conversations linked to that matter from the Conversations tab.
